Bone bruise: Bone bruise is a misnomer. There's no such a thing in medicine. You may damage your bone by causing a fracture or bleeding between the bone itself and the lining of it (periosteum), but that's such a rare thing applying only to children. I am yet to see a case of it. I believe people refer to an injury of a soft tissue overlying the bone. In most cases, it heals up like a normal bruise would.
