Yes: Out of date on meds means the guarantee of potency has expired. Meaning it might not work quite as we'll as expected.

No: Any medication that is out of date should not be used. First of all we dont know whether it will work or not and secondly its affect on body might be unpredictable, might get more adverse affects etc.

It depends...: This depends some on how out of date and what form. Expiration dates are not exact. It is not like one day the medicine is fine and the next day it has suddenly gone bad. Most meds are good for a few weeks to a few months after the expiration date. Over time they may lose some potency. A few weeks after expiration should be fine. It it's been a couple years not so much. Liquids are less stable.
