A member asked:

How do biosimiliars differ from a generic drug, and how do i know if i am receiving one?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Generic medications: A generic drug is one which is presumably identical to the brand named compound but manufactured by a company other that the one which developed and marketed it originally. A biosimilar is a drug with similar, although not identical chemical structures, which is used to treat the same conditions in a similar manner. You need to discuss this with the doctor prescribing or the pharmacist.
