Mittelschmerz: Mittelschmerz is the mid-cycle abdominal pain that occurs in women just before, during, or after ovulation (when an egg is released from the ovaries). It usually is one-sided, can last a few minutes to a few hours, and is sharp/cramping. No treatment is necessary but you may take pain relievers such as Ibuprofen for prolonged or intense pain.
