To a significant : Extent this depends on body weight. When checking weight capacity for a slat platform bed – ensure that you calculate weight of the mattress in the equation. Individual slats are not strong – so if weight is not evenly distributed (such as kneeling) then a slat may break despite high weight capacity for bed. Overtime slats may sink, leading to less back support ; wearing out mattress more quickly.
