Fluid filled blister: The herpes infection begins as a cluster of painful fluid filled blisters that then ulcerate. The ulcers look like a red ring with a yellowish center. This is often associated with a primary herpetic infection. The virus will continue to live in your body and you may experience periodic flare ups of the infection.

Not commonly there: The tongue is not a place one would expect to find herpetic lesions. Most of the time, they are found on the lips, border of the lips, or around the mouth. They can be found on fingers and even in or around the eye. Most likely, it is some sort of trauma to your tongue, or an apthous ulcer.

Blisters: Blisters that break forming ulcers that crust over and heal by 2 wkd. There can be multiple lesions and possibly fever and lymph node swelling involvement. This is the primary form of the disease, or first exposure.
