Confusing question: It is an effective treatment, among others.If you or the patient is asymptomatic, treatment is not absolutely required.Some patients will clear this naturally, but chronic carriage is common.

It is the treatment: Mebendazole is the medical treatment for pinworm. The single dose treatment is often repeated after 2 weeks, in order to treat eggs that hatched since the original treatment.
