Called ptayalism: The condition of producing too much saliva in early pregnancy is called ptayalism. It is associated with nausea and vomiting, which are most common in the first trimester (first 13 weeks), and typically get better in later pregnancy, so time is on your side. The cause is unknown. Some drugs have been reported to be helpful, as has chewing gum or sucking ice.
