Yes and no...: After the first 24-48 hours of specifically following the post op instructions set forth by your surgeon, proper home care/oral hygiene is vital to maintain. However, I do not normally recommend whitening toothpastes... They can be very abrasive on the tooth structure, especially if there is erosion through the enamel... Can increase sensitivity, with minimal esthetic benefit...

Whitening : No brushing or rinsing for 24 hours after extraction then you can return to brushing avoiding extraction sites and whitening toothpaste is acceptable.
