Cataract: In the context of cataract formation, cortical spoking refers to the peripheral and superficial (cortex) clouding of the lens in the pattern of spokes on a wheel. These spokes often create the glare symptoms seen from the cataract. When vision and or symptoms significantly disturb activities of daily living, a cataract may be removed and replaced by an intraocular lens implant.
