Sort of.: Vitamin d is fat soluble, so it's very possible to overdose on it. In very high doses over a period of time, it can affect kidney function, which can lead to swelling. Don't take more than the daily recommended amount of vitamin d without the knowledge and oversight of your doctor.

Usually not: But if you have other medical issues present (including kidney disease, electrolyte imbalance) you want to rule them out. As a general rule, "self-medicating" with vitamin d3 should be 4000 iu or less daily. If you require more, do it under your doctor's supervision. Talk to your doctor regarding the possible causes of swelling that might affect you.
