Yes: You require a tetanus shot every 5 to 10 years. If you have not had one in this time period, go get one.

Injury: Would recommend it if you don't know when your last one was or if it has been more than 10 years. Are you now symptom free? Does the cut need to be debrided? Look for redness, swelling, tenderness, red streaks, pus. I would hydrate well with water. I would have a low threshold for seeking medical care.
