Generally no: A functioning vp shunt runs under your skin from you scalp to just the upper abdomen and empties into the peritoneal space in your abdomen. Shunt tubing could feasibly cause some local inflammation under the skin. A tubing leak at a connection is rare but could cause a local fluid collection. You should visit your dr to have it evaluated.
