Central chest: 'textbook description' of heart-origin pain is heavy pressure in the center of the chest, under the sternum (breastbone). It may also be felt in the jaw or in the left arm. Since the body does not read the book, other locations are possible, esp in women or elerly folks. Most typical would be pain brought on by exercise and relieved with rest.
