Cough: It see that you smoke, this does not help matters. Diabetes can also cause you to have acid reflux, so does smoking, your cough may not be an infection but from reflux. Try otc Prilosec and see if it helps, take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Always check with your doctor first to see if the medicine is ok to take in your case before taking it.

Cough: Minimal to no response to medications of dry cough over few days calls for reevaluation . History of smoking is of concern . Follow up with your doctor.
