DSPS: You must be used to wake up late night and wake up late morning with altered circadian rhythm and homeostatic drive. This is usually not normal for sad per se by definition. Avoid excessive light in summer wear shades etc get an md eval.

Horse racing!: I think you have lots of company (all the better to get cozy) so it seems to not be abnormal. I certainly hope that strong preferences will never be seen as a pathology. Regarding sad, i think researchers are positing that the lack of sufficient light "triggers" underlying physical depression in people whose normal circadian rhythms are thrown off balance. It is not liking summer or even energy.
