Pleuritic chest pain: It sounds like you have pleuritic chest pain, and given that it is severe, you should probably be seen by a doctor. A possible cause that I am considering in a 25 year-old woman is pleurisy related to a viral infection. There are other more serious possibilities, such as a small pneumothorax or pleural effusion. Your doctor will gather more information and maybe send labs and a chest xray.
