Scientific Rx: Acne is a chronic disease that eventually remits as a person ages. I was able to stop taking rx when i was 50. In the meantime, topical benzoyl peroxide is your first treatment. If this fails, your personal physician can add topical clindamycin, topical tretinoin, a systemic antibiotic, or one of the big guns. Manage the disease until it remits -- you owe it to yourself.

Tailored approach : Acne treatment has come along way however there is no real one size fits all. Individuals differ so much in skin type and acne type that acne treatments vary depending on your acne type and grade. There are many otc face washes designed to work well for mild acne and oily skin however if more severe it's best to talk to your doc about other options including both topicals and oral medications.
