Salicylic acid: Topical drugs benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and glycolic acids are the most common medications. These are found in most over the counter preparations and are safe as the concentrations have been tested thoroughly. Sometimes higher strength formulations with antibiotics need to be prescribed by a dermatologist. For black skin salicylic acid is good as it also treats hyperpigmentation
