Preventive measures: For future kidney failure , shrinkage of size kidney , is a sign of chronic renal disease , a progressive disease , effecting glomurali and nephrons , check your creatinine levels , control the blood sugar and blood pressure , two most common causes of kidney failure , eat plenty of vegi , fruits and exercises to prevent end stage renal failure.

Depends on cause: If your kidney is shrinking from a lack of blood flow (renal artery stenosis), then restoring blood flow to that kidney may help. If it's shrinking from recurrent infections to that kidney, then antibiotics may be helpful. If the cause is reflux of urine from your bladder back up that kidney, a urologist may be helpful. If neither of those is the case, there is nothing you can do to change it.
