A 25-year-old female asked:
Are abdominal lymph nodes around belly button palpable, or do they lie too deep in the abdomen to be felt?

Dr. Robert Killian answered

Abdominal Anatomy: They are too deep to be palpated in the skin of your abdomen. Lymph nodes would only be detectable on ultrasounds or other ways of xraying (ct scan etc) the body.

A 26-year-old female asked:
My baby11mo. Has redness around her belly button only, it's a week now.. What could this be? Can i put anything on it?

Dr. Michael Carlston answered
Family Medicine 41 years experience
Inflammation: Redness around the belly button is much more common in newborns than at 11 months. Earlier it would certainly be a local infection and potentially quite serious. At this age, a bug bite, with a local reaction is more likely. Some warm most packs would be useful. Then put on a topical antibiotic salve (neosporin) or better still calendula ointment.

A 22-year-old female asked:
I'm 5' 8'' and 109 lbs. When i lay down i can see my belly pulsing to the left of my belly button. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Depends: For your height you are underweight. If your weight been like this foe several years, i would not be concerned. It is your abdominal aorta which is pulsating, which is normal. It will be beneficial to get a sonogram of that area to see the size of your aorta. If you are losing weight, I am definitely concerned.
