My period is always dark brown in colour. even on first days and consecutive days. i get red tinges but it's mostly dark brown clots. is this normal?

Yes: It sounds as if your period is quite light. Dark brown blood is blood that is a little bit older (the blood has had time to oxidize). Are you on hormones and that's why you're period is lighter? So long as your cycle is regular, likely everything is fine.
