Possible pregnancy: When a woman is 4 days late for her period and spotting and cramping it is possible she is pregnant. So it's reasonable to check a pregnancy test. However it is also likely that her period is coming. There can be variation in when a woman's period comes. So a period coming a few days early or late usually is not the signal of a problem.
