After playing with a kid with chicken pox, how long do you have before you show a rash?

Chicken pox: If you child has been vaccinated against chicken pox (varicella) then he or she will most likely not get the disease. If that is not the case then from exposure to the appearance of chicken pox lesions can range from 10-21 days. The problem, however is that a patient can actually be contagious a few days before the classic lesions appear.

Chicken pox: It takes between 10 and 21 days after contact with an infected person for someone to develop chickenpox (this is known as the chickenpox incubation period). While this is the complete range for the chickenpox incubation period, the usual chickenpox incubation period averages between 14 and 16 days.
