Good question: Very politically charged question. Certainly depends on who you ask. Fnps have formalized training and certification testing. If you feel uncomfortable in a patient/provider situation you should consider finding someone else. We still have the freedom to chose for now.

Normal variation: Fnp qualifications vary by state. See link: http://www.Degreetree.Com/resources/state-by-state-nurse-practitioner-requirements that said, they are all seriously trained and some are exceptionally skilled. Like any field - there are disappointments too. Whether your direct care is by an md, do, fpn, etc., part of the match is you. Ask questions, share your concerns, seek alternatives if not pleased.
