Possibly...: In order for a vent-dependent patient to be cared for at home, many family members and friends need to be taught to care for the person at home and it is an around the clock undertaking. Hospice/home care workers cannot be there all the time so others need to be able to care for these patients at home. This is often not possible so inpatient hospice and some nursing homes are available.

Local resources: The ability of a ventilator dependent person to go home depends on resources in the community - some communites have supports in place for people with home vents and others do not. Some communites have very nice hospice facilites dedicated to caring for the very ill - others don't. Talk to your pulmonologist and see what is out there for you.

Nursing facility.: Home ventilator management is laborious and difficult. It has been done, and there are resources available for those who decide to being their loved one home on the ventilator, but it's difficult.
