Pregnancy: Whether a person who's had open heart surgery can have a baby depends on what is wrong with them. An open heart surgery for atrial septal defect repair patient should be ok for pregnancy. Some other surgeries....No.

See below: This needs to be dictated by the nature of the heart operation that they underwent. Some are so minor that all that is left is the small scar on the chest, others have significant problems later in life. Check with your cardiologist before embarking on pregnancy.
