Sleep Aids: Most "pm" otc meds (tylenol (acetaminophen), advil, etc) contain Diphenhydramine (benadryl, an antihistamine), which is what makes you drowsy. It isn't addictive but can be overused in an abusive pattern. The biggest concern is that the tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen is very hard on the liver. Some people use just the antihistamine to help sleep.See http://www.Stanford.Edu/~dement/howto.Html for non-medication sleep tips.

Agree w Dr. Front: Ibuprofen PM is not technically addictive but one can be too dependent on it. Ibuprofen pm contains 38 mg of diphenhydramine citrate which can aid w sleep. However, it also contains 200 mg of ibuprofen. If you aren't treating pain/ inflammation & don't need the ibuprofen – then a medication that doesn't contain ibuprofen may be a better option. Try sleep hygiene before going to sleep medications.
