Taking iron?: Black stools, in pregnancy or not, can be blood or can be from taking iron pills. Most prenatal vitamins have a small amount of iron in them. If you recently started taking iron pills that is likely the cause. However if you are having intestinal problems diarrhea or abdominal pain (pain not from the uterus or contractions) then it could be from blood in the intestines so call your doctor.
