Coughing up phlegm: Coughing up phlegm can come from numerous causes. Primary pulmonary disease, e.g. Emphysema, bronchitis, etc., can be the source. It is also possible postnasal drip from sinusitis/allergies can be the cause. I would see your doctor to be evaluated.
