How much should an anal fissure bleed?

Anal fissure bleed: Large constipating bm usually leads to an anal fissure which is a chronic sore in the anal skin usually front or back. Bleeding can occur any time a bm occurs and can be profuse. Initial rx is making stool soft, sits baths, and healing ointments/creams (not prep-h). Surgery is sometimes needed to cure the problem by cutting some muscles @ the anal opening.

A lot: Anal fissures can bleed a lot. Blood drips into the toilet and turns the water red. Treatment is stool softeners (like miralax). If stools are pudding-like consistency without chunks, it will heal. If not healing, it's important to make sure it's a normal fissure before seeing surgeon. See a gastroenterologist to make sure not fistula or other pathology from crohn's disease first.
