Sex with menses: It is also possible to get pregnant anytime you have sex near the time you ovulate. Although having sex on day 3 of your period and having a normal 28 day cycle means the lining is thin and you are not likely to be ovulating at that time, there remains a very small chance that you can get pregnant. In older women, the recruitment phase may be shorter and so ovulation can occur at menses.
