Anovulatory bleeding: If you do not get your period, it does not mean that your uterus is not still responding to hormones produced by your ovaries. The lining can grow and begin to irregularly shed leading to breakthrough bleeding. Given your age (>40), you should go in to your doctor and get this checked out.
