Needs eval ASAP : Yes it is one or the other but should not be taken lightly. Your sister needs a complete medical and mental health evaluation to rule in or out a somatic/psychiatric cause. Laboratory/blood work should also be done with t3, (liothyronine) t4, and TSH included to rule out thyroid disease.
