Acute infection : From a bacteria is the most concerning. Rabies and other viral infections are rare. The infection can progress rapidly and spread deep at site of the bite or systemically. Early antibiotics are usually recommended. It also depends where you were bitten (nerve, artery, organ damage). Ptsd, phobias, and physical scarring are others.
