Yellow Nail Syndrome: This is a rare syndrome that is typically associated with underlying systemic condition such as lymphedema (swelling of the legs, hands), pleural effusion (fluid in the lungs), or rheumatoid arthritis. If your chest xray was normal and no associated limb swelling, then we typically send a specimen of your nail for fungal culture. If fungal culture positive, we treat with oral antifungal pills.
