Many possibilities: A purple color can be from trauma (ie a bruise). It can be a hematoma (a collection of clotted blood under the skin) or be related to a skin condition such as melanoma. Fortunately melanoma in this area is quite rare. There are other causes but you would need to get an exam to know what it is for sure. See a doc if it isn't going away on its own. Best wishes!
