Productive cough: If the cancer spreads to the lung- you could have cough caused by the cancer spread. Although it is usually dry cough, but productive cough also can happen- especially if there is obstructive pneumonitis or superimposed infection for instance. However other causes of productive cough like infections ( bronchitis, pneumonia) or exacerbation of chronic lung disease- obviously have to be ruled out.

Not usually. : Thyroid cancer grows outside of the windpipe and therefore almost never causes a productive cough. However, in the extremely rare event that it invades the windpipe this could result in a productive, possibly bloood tinged cough. Other possible causes of a cough could be if the cancer invades the nerve to the vocal cord which helps protect from aspiration.
