Scleritis: Episcleritis and scleritis are inflammtory conditions of the eye. They both present as redness, but scleritis is much worse and is usually very painful. Treatment is usually topical with eyedrops. Both these disorders can be associated with inflammatory disorders elsewhere in the body such as inflammatory bowel disease and arthritis. If you suspect you have either, please see an ophthalmologis.
