Yes: It can cause shoulder pain if the gas is causing enough pain upward around the diaphragm. However, this should be shortlived as the gas moves through the intestines and long lasting shoulder pain will most likely not be related to gas. The pain is from viscerosomatic referred pain. If the shoulder pain and abdominal pain lasts longer than regular gas is expected, further workup would be necessary.
