Do you end up hospitalized if you start having brown-colored urine?

Frequently yes: That is a sure sign of trouble. It could mean a kidney inflammation affecting the filters or a pigment coming from muscle tissue or bile being excreted in the urine from muscle damage or liver disease. All of those conditions require prompt diagnosis and treatment so quick work up is required.

Blood: Need to see a doctor but unlikely need to stay in hospital...This is an office evaluation.

Hematuria: Likely blood from kidney in urine. Best to consult an internist or nephrologist as is possibly kidney problem & more likely medical than urologic. You will be referred to a urologist if necessary. No need to be hospitalized unless remote chance of needing surgery. This would only occur after a work-up.
