A member asked:

Urologist gave me prescription for generic flowmax to possibly help with constant passing of kidney stones and pain, is it safe for women to take, side affects

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Flomax, (tamsulosin) and other so-called uro-selective Alpha blocker medications, are used to treat urinary symptoms in men with enlarged prostates. While they are not fda-approved for treatment of stones, research shows that they increase passage of stones from the distal ureter, and i would consider their use for this to be standard of care. They may cause dizziness or low bp, but are safe for both genders.
