Is my contraceptive pill going to be effective right away? if not, how long will it take?

Don't count on it: The general rule for starting a new bcp is to use a back up method for the first cycle. They may be immediately effective but a back up contraceptive is wise as a woman's body gets used to hormonal contraception.
