Possible trauma: Many times chronic low grade microtrauma can cause torn lower lip outside lower front teeth. Either edges of upper teeth are rubbing or airway problem, loss of back teeth causing over closure, lip sucking habit, placement of tobacco. Many reason. Look for the cause.

VERY tough problem: Unfortunately these tears or sores inside the lip/mouth are very difficult to get to heal due to the frequency of talking/eating that goes on. The only advice i can give you is to keep it adequately moist using vaseline, keep opening of mouth as small as possible, and some topical relief can be achieved using available otc treatments found in the oral health section in stores, my fav. Is orabase.
