Depends.....: Is this a change in the color of your sputum? If so, this could be acute bronchitis caused by either a viral or bacterial infection. In general, bacterial infections tend to give higher fever, malaise, etc. But there is considerable symptom overlap between viral and bacterial infections. If your symptoms are worsening or you are not significantly better in 5-7 days, then see your doctor.
