A member asked:

Is the treatment for an ulcer and for too much acid the same treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Acid reflux, where stomach contents go into the esophagus and cause irritation and true ulcers of the stomach and upper intestinal tract are generally treated with medications that reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces. Simple antacids were the first such treatments and those were followed by special antihistamines and more recently by proton pump inhibitors.
