Yes: Acid reflux, where stomach contents go into the esophagus and cause irritation and true ulcers of the stomach and upper intestinal tract are generally treated with medications that reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces. Simple antacids were the first such treatments and those were followed by special antihistamines and more recently by proton pump inhibitors.
