H Pylori eradication: Peptic ulcers are commonly caused by helicobacter pylori infection, a tough bacteria that can survive in the acidic environment of the stomach. Getting tested for and treated for this condition is important in peptic ulcers. H. Pylori is not the cause. Stomach acid suppression with proton pump inhibitors may also be effective depending on the type, location, and severity of he ulcer.
