How come your not allowed to wear makeup when having a operation?

Skin color changes: During surgery and anesthesia, we monitor as much as we possibly can, including your skin and lip color. Wearing makeup can hide pallor, flushing, bluing, etc - so we require no makeup. Nail polish may also be forbidden, at least on one nail, for oxygen monitoring. Good luck.
