Depends: First the cause of the red eye need to be diagnosed. The red eye could be secondary to many reasons. Red eye could be from dry eyes, allergy, blepharitis, sun damage, inflammation, infection etc. If its from dry eye or allergy then artificial tears, allergy drops, lid hygiene and omega 3 will help. Other causes will need medical attention.

Depends on the cause: There are many causes of redness of the eyes. Several types of inflammatory conditions, allergic reactions, detergents, chemicals, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause redness of the eyes. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
