Ritalin (methylphenidate) side effects: The fastest way is to discontinue Ritalin (methylphenidate) and speak to your prescriber for another medicine. If you not want to change medication, melatonin may help with insomnia. Periactin may help with depressed appetite, persistent irritability requires finding an alternative medication.

ADHD: Ritalin (methylphenidate) is one of the short acting stimulants for add/adhd. Initially started at lower dose, gradually titrated upward at which symptoms come under control. Side effects at beginning 2-4 weeks: loss of appetite, weight loss, poor sleep, stomach discomfort if taken in empty stomach; then resolve. If symptoms continues more- 1-2 months, talk to your doc. May need dose adjustment or different med.
